COBA Plastics has extensive experience in the automotive seating industry and is the globally trusted partner for many new automotive seating projects. We offer one of the largest ranges of automotive trim retainers, in both standard and bespoke profile designs using the latest precision technologies.
These include the innovative COBAflex family of retainers (profiles with non-woven fleece) used to firmly attach the seat cover to the underside of the car seat.
As well as retainers, we also produce quality Tie Down (with fleece) solutions to support automotive seating manufacturers’ functional and aesthetic objectives. COBA brings added value by offering a range of Tie Down finishing and fastening options to support the seating assembly process for efficiency and costreduction benefits.
Our moulding capabilities mean we can offer both injection and over-moulded parts for automotive seat gap fillers.
COBA Plastics is proud to manufacture one of the largest ranges of automotive seating trim retainers in Europe – over 2000 approved parts in actual fact! We offer both standard and bespoke options for seating applications, with experienced design and project management to support automotive customers in new seat development.
Tie Down solutions for automotive seat cover applications have been an area of significant growth for COBA Plastics over recent years. COBA Tie Down delivers a number of proven cost reduction and finished product benefits to our seating customers.
A dual material component, it features an extruded bead bonded onto a flange of fleece. Tie Down locks down the material cover into the foam used in the seating mechanism, creating smart definition lines for stylish seats.
We offer a range of value adding down line processes. COBA Tie Down can be hog ringed or an injection moulded clip can be formed into the foam.
COBAflex solutions can feature any trim retainer bonded onto a non-woven fleece. Used for front seat applications, it is attaches the trim cover to the underside of the seat pan. COBAflex helps to reduce the amount of premium car seat material that is required and removes a sewing operation for our customers. This naturally enables us to bring cost reduction benefits to our customers.
It can be lasered, punched (either pneumatic or hydraulic) or injection moulded.
COBA’s injection moulding capability enables us to supply moulded parts that act as gap fillers for a variety of seating applications. Our injection moulding machines range up to a maximum of 250 tons? And we provide tooling design and project management as supporting services.
We specialise in technically demanding components with short lead times, based on volumes from a few hundred to several million. Innovative technical assistance is available for both component and tool design.
Ranging in size from 22mT to 420 mT of clamping force, our machinery has the capability to produce a huge range of products from small multi-cavity parts, larger single shot products, 2K injected parts and insert over-moulding.
Ultrasonic welding, chroming, painting and offline assembly are also available from our site in Leicester.
